You might be thinking what I am going to say or which place I am gonna describe. First let me give you a try. Think about a paradise on Earth. Consider all the possibilities. You might have thought about the seven wonders or the emerging wonders. But unless you have an experience like me, you wouldn’t have got the correct answer (That is the place I am gonna describe in this post)
OK, let me start with the word PARADISE. There are two meanings for it when I referred the dictionary which is as follows::1) Heaven and 2) A state/place of extreme bliss. Bliss or happiness is the emotion for which all the people are struggling for. You may be thinking why to struggle if you can get this happiness by just being at a place. I don’t think the place I am gonna describe is a place that solves all your problems. Rather it may create problems . But for me that place is happiness. By a place...or else in civil engineering terms... 'A 75 acre area' .I intend to describe about a 75 acre area that have given me happiness (at least till now) by just being there... I don’t know whether I would be able to convey what is in my heart about this special place, but I would rather try.
Right from the moment I set my foot in that place, I felt the feeling, yes this place will change me and yes now it has. I keep telling it as ‘place’ till now, and some of you might have been fed up by hearing it or guessing what it is. Now, I am not gonna keep you in suspense (Although most of you might have cracked it!!), I am talking about my beautiful college...Government Engineering College, Thrissur. If I start talking about my college, I may not find words to describe. Still I haven't found out what’s special there. But it is a fact that GEC is special, at least for me.
First attraction I had about GEC is its large campus. Coming from a school with cramped buildings (But it was a wonderful place...in a different way) the large campus startled me. Right from the first day I started exploring GEC by taking different routes home. It was during this exploration I learnt that each point on GEC is named...The Civil bench, Mech tree, Lover's corner and the great GALLERY.
Speaking of the Gallery, which is the old and partly destroyed steps surrounding the athletic ground, it can be regarded as my favourite place in the campus. It has been my hangout place in college. That is the place where I simply sit chatting to my friends. But there is a special feeling when you sit there. You would feel free. All the assignments, record works and deadlines (The other part of an engineering course) seems to vanish. Really, you have to experience that. Also I had spent some of my depressed time at the gallery alone, listening to my favourite lines there. I don’t know which healing spirit did it, but my mind calmed down there. Such a wonderful place!!!
Similarly each end every square inch of GEC is charming also each of them have a history. The first time, I stepped on the campus; a flux board welcomed me 'Chenkotayileku Swagatham' otherwise 'Welcome to the RED FORT'. Yes, GEC is one college that is filled with a long history which you see in every room there. Each and every dust particle in GEC has something to say. Let it be the strikes during the emergency, or the success stories of students otherwise the love stories of the GECians, or may be it shouts at us about the strong bond of friendship of the comrades who walked through that dusty tarmac.
More than all this, what made me love GEC, is that, it is GEC’s environment that have changed me. From an introvert computer nerd at the previous institution, I changed into a social animal here at GEC.I learnt how to speak, interact and above all express myself. If it wasn't for GEC, I would not even have started blogging. It’s the place that gave me courage and made me understand that I am different and that every person is unique. Even before Manirathnam conveyed it through his film Raavanan, GEC taught me the film’s theme, that every person/everything in the world have both a Raman and a Raavanan in them/it. GEC also taught me that it is me, who has to find the best in whatever I am dealing with.
Above all, GEC, is the institution that helped me meet so many wonderful people, I would rather say trustworthy friends, the only asset in my life till now. I don’t know whether all my friends here at GEC will be there forever with me but I am sure that I would be missing all of them after this amazing era of my life if they are not with me.
It’s not that I have finished telling about GEC, but this is all I can write. The truth is that my life at GEC is full of emotions that I am unable to express in words. If I go on, I may not end it. But time is precious now. And you know what I have got about 3 experiments to write into my fair record.
Keep smiling

My first experience on stage!!!
A few days back, I attended a debate rather a talk show. I would say that I am satisfied with that. I did express my view before the public. But there was a day, when I couldn't express my views..I stood dumb in front of the mic..legs shivering..I am gonna tell you about that experience..
I was in 9Th grade. One day, teacher in charge of the class came and announced that there is a debate and she need one person to represent the class in the debate. I stood up. Teacher looked me and I guess she was not satisfied. She enquired if there was anyone else. But no one stood up. So it was my duty to represent our class for the debate.
Next day, after the morning assembly, I was called for the discussion of the debate.I saw the other two people of my team. They were the best speakers in my batch. My confidence level went down a bit. Then saw our opponents. The just seniors(10Th standards). They too were good at this speaking business.I got a bit more frightened.
Then the moderated came out with the topic."Unemployment strives India more than Population inflammation" .Then we took a lot on who were for the motion and who were against.I don't remember who took the lot, but we were against the motion. That is we had to prove population is the cause for India's delayed development.
Next few days were the days of research for the project.I had a weakness and I had to overcome it by the amount of points. It was the chance for me to prove myself.I referred and referred and referred.I took opinions from all the people I knew.I also discussed with one of my team mate.It was all set for the hungama.
The day of the program.I think none other than me had considered that day important.Tghe program was to take place in the afternoon session.During the lunch break I told all my points to my team mate.Let me tell you about that person. He is highly optimistic and tries to find good qualities in everyone(He would not be able to tell a bad quality about anyone). He uplifted my courage by saying I got a load of points.
It is now show time. The real deal.We went to the stage, took lots who speaks when.Luckily I was the second speaker from my team. The program started with moderator introducing the topic and inviting the first speaker. Each speaker gave out their views and finally it was my turn.
I sat up from my chair, went to the mic stand. Adding to the trouble, height of the stand was well above my height. If I stand my face could not be seen. There was a wooden block and I was able to show my face when I stood on it.I started with the formal introductory speech aand then to the topic. But my shivering was clearly heard in the words spoken.I told all the points but couldn't elaborate it.I knew I had screwed it. I somehow concluded the speech and went to the chair. There was curses and comments from the audience of our team.I put my head down.
The last two speakers spoke and it was time for argument. I was not in a mental state to answer any arguments. But one of my opponents wanted an answer from me for my argument.I might have answered well, but I couldnt express it well. There was a couple more questeons. Then it was open to audience and finally it was the time for results.
It was our class teacher who declared our results. We lostby 4 points and I know it was me who made the team lose.I returned to the class.I cursed myself for taking part in that debate.I remembered the proverb "Well begun is half done".In this case it was not well begun and I think I am not suitable for oratory tasks. Then one of my friends said "You did your best,For the first time, everybody is like this".That gave me inspiration.I took part in some more debates and oral competiotions..
Now I am here, sitting staisfied after a talk show. Thanks to that first debate and that caring friend, I lost the stage fear and could speak well infront of a crowd now. After all "A journey of thousand miles starts with a single step".

A New Friend
I have met many friends..I am a friendly person too.. But I hadn't been able to find a person whom I could tell my Best Friend till a day..I am now gonna tell you how I met a friend whom I can tell you as my best friend..I have to turn the pages of my memory a few years back..
It was the time of my tenth standard..The starting..All the first Board exam stress talks were around me..There were tutions, assignments, Labs and friends too..It was in the middle of one of those stress talks, one of my friends told a name..lets say AJ..This guy has come down from Delhi right into middle of the 10th standard..I didnt give much attention to it..Another day while walking to the bus boarding poin.. I saw this guy..A cheerful face dicussing something in a group..I didnt dive into it..I thought he wasnt my type..
Later One cool morning, I climbed down the bus.I was headed towards my maths tution class, I heard somebody call "Ranjith, wait..".I stopped and looked around.I saw the same cheerfull face coming towards me.Then we walked together to the class. We talked on the way.I understood that he was my type(unlike my first judgement). From then on , every morning we walk together to tution and back to the class. That was the initiation of a new bond.
And now, Years after that, I realise that he is one heck of a friend.I thank god for making him call me.If I was a bit early or a bit late that day , I wouldn't have got such an awesome friend.....
